What is drawing me towards the Christian faith?

You may be exploring Christianity for the first time, or returning after a period of doubt, distance or simply being occupied with other parts of life.

Something has brought you to this point. It may be a desire to know God, curiosity about Jesus, a need for forgiveness, a search for purpose or the feeling that you want your life to move in a different direction.

You may also remember earlier experiences of prayer, church or Christian faith. Some may have brought comfort and belonging, while others may have left you disappointed, uncertain or with questions that were never answered.

You do not need to ignore those experiences or settle every question before beginning. It may help to notice what is drawing you towards faith now, what you hope to find and what may still be holding you back.

Christians believe that the desire to begin or return to faith may be the Holy Spirit drawing us towards Jesus. They believe that Jesus welcomes us as we are, offers forgiveness and invites us into a new life with God. Jesus wants to be loved by you and asks you to place your faith in him.

We can respond by speaking honestly to God in prayer, learning about Jesus in the Bible, worshipping with other Christians and beginning to put his teaching into practice. Christians believe that the Holy Spirit helps us take these steps, strengthens our faith and draws us closer to God.
