Consider who Jesus really is
Read Mark 8:27–30. In this short passage, Jesus asks his disciples what other people say about him, and then asks:
“Who do you say I am?”
Think about the different impressions of Jesus you have encountered. He may have been described as a teacher, prophet, moral example, religious leader, fictional character or God.
Complete this sentence as honestly as you can:
“At this point, I think Jesus was ________, because ________.”
You do not need to give a Christian answer or even be sure of the words you choose. The purpose is simply to recognise what you currently think and why.
Christians believe that Jesus is God, who came to live among us as a human being. They believe that his teaching, actions, death and resurrection reveal who he is.
They believe that Jesus is loving and compassionate, that he understands our weaknesses, offers us forgiveness and invites us to place our faith in him and follow him.
