Spend seven days getting to know God
Set aside ten quiet minutes each day for one week. Read one of these short passages about Jesus:
- day one: John 1:35–39
- day two: Mark 2:1–12
- day three: Matthew 11:28–30
- day four: Luke 15:11–32
- day five: John 10:11–15
- day six: Luke 23:39–43
- day seven: John 20:24–29
After reading, respond to God in one honest sentence. You might say:
“God, this passage makes me think ________.”
Or:
“God, help me understand what this shows me about you.”
You do not need to reach a conclusion or experience anything unusual. Simply read, respond honestly and repeat the same practice each day.
Christians believe that Jesus is God, who came to live among us as a human being. By looking closely at Jesus, what he said, what he did and how he treated people, we begin to understand what God is like.
Christians believe that relationships grow through attention, honesty and time. Giving God a few quiet minutes each day can be a simple beginning.
