What might a spiritual dimension mean?

A spiritual dimension means the possibility that reality includes more than the physical universe and the things we can observe or measure.

For some people, this means God or a spiritual realm beyond the visible world. It may also include the belief that human beings have a soul or spirit, that meaning and moral value are rooted in something deeper than human opinion, or that life continues beyond physical death.

People may begin to consider these possibilities through wonder at the universe, experiences of love or beauty, the mystery of consciousness, a strong sense of right and wrong, prayer, grief, a sense of presence or an experience they cannot easily explain.

These experiences can be interpreted in different ways. Some believe they arise entirely from the brain, psychology or the natural world. Others see them as signs that human beings are becoming aware of a reality beyond the physical.

The bigger-picture question is whether consciousness, meaning, moral value and spiritual experience can be fully explained by the physical world, or whether they point towards something more.

Christians believe that reality is not limited to the physical world. They believe that human beings have a spiritual dimension. They also believe that those who belong to Christ remain in God’s care after death and will ultimately be raised to eternal life with him.

Jesus invites you to walk with him.
