What do Christians believe?

Christians believe in one God, who created the universe and every human life. They believe that God is loving, just and personal, and that he wants people to know him.

They believe that God came to earth as Jesus and lived among us as a human being. Jesus revealed what God is like, taught people how to live and invited them to love God and one another.

Christians believe that human sin separates people from God. They believe that Jesus died on the cross for our sins so that we could be forgiven and reconciled to God.

They believe that Jesus rose from the dead and ascended into heaven. His resurrection shows that death is not the end and opens the way to resurrection and eternal life with God.

Christians believe that the Holy Spirit is God present and active within those who follow Jesus. The Holy Spirit strengthens faith, guides people and gradually helps them become more like Christ.

Christian faith means more than accepting these beliefs as true. It means placing our trust in Jesus, receiving his forgiveness and allowing our relationship with him to shape how we live.

Christians grow in faith through prayer, reading the Bible, worshipping with other Christians and putting the teaching of Jesus into practice. The Church is the community of people who follow Jesus and seek to serve God together.

Christianity teaches that God created you, loves you and invites you into a relationship with him through Jesus. You do not need to become perfect before responding to that invitation.

Christians believe that Jesus offers forgiveness, a new life with God and the gift of eternal life. Faith begins by placing your trust in him and allowing the Holy Spirit to guide and change you.
