How can we come to know God and grow closer to him?
Some people begin by wondering whether it is possible to know God personally, rather than simply believe ideas about him. Others already believe in God but want their relationship with him to become deeper, clearer or more present in everyday life.
Knowing God would mean more than learning facts about him or taking part in religious practices. If God is personal, a relationship with him would involve seeking him honestly, speaking to him, being attentive to how he may guide us, learning to trust him, and allowing that relationship to shape how we live.
People seek God through prayer, Scripture, worship, silence, community, service and the person of Jesus. Yet many still wonder how to recognise God’s presence, how to respond to him, and how a relationship with God can become real and enduring.
