I want to know Jesus better
Getting to know Jesus is more than learning facts about him. It means discovering what he said, how he treated people, what mattered to him and what Christians believe he reveals about God.
The clearest place to meet Jesus is in the four Gospels: Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. They describe his life, teaching, compassion, death and resurrection.
As you read, you may notice how Jesus welcomed people who felt excluded, forgave those who had failed and challenged those who used power without love.
Jesus described himself as someone who could be approached and known. He said:
“Learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart.”
Matthew 11:29
You do not need to understand everything about Jesus immediately. Begin by paying attention to his words and actions. Ask what they reveal about his character and what they might mean for your own life.
You can also speak to Jesus as you learn about him. You might ask him to help you recognise what is true and to show you what it means to know him personally.
Knowing Jesus is a relationship that can deepen gradually through reading, prayer, reflection and trying to live by what he taught.
